At Marshalls, we’re all about doing our bit for the communities we serve; not just collecting bins, but helping people and organisations thrive.
That’s why today was extra special for us: we volunteered our waste management van to support Break’s Christmas Tree Recycling initiative across Norfolk and the surrounding postcodes.

Every January, Break, a local charity that supports children and young people in and around care, runs a Christmas tree collection and recycling service.
Instead of leaving your real Christmas tree to take up space on the curb or throwing it in general waste, residents can book a collection by making a donation and Break takes care of responsibly recycling the trees, with proceeds going straight back into their life-changing work.

Why This Matters
After the holidays, everyone’s busy getting back into routine - so clearing away the tree can feel like a bit of a chore. Break’s Christmas Tree Recycling event gives people a simple, sustainable option: they pick up your tree from right outside your house and recycle it, all while raising funds for children and young people who need extra support.
This year’s collection is running from 7th–9th January 2026, covering postcodes across Norfolk, Thetford East to the coast and into parts of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk - and our very own Marshalls van and crew were proud to be part of the effort.

Teamwork in Action
We spent the morning helping Break’s volunteers move full trees into the recycling queue, keeping everything running smoothly and safely. It was a great reminder of what can happen when businesses and charities work together - real impact, local support, and a greener outcome for waste that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Giving Back in a Meaningful Way
Break’s work goes far beyond tree recycling - they walk alongside children and young people in care, helping them build confidence, realise opportunities, and find the support they need to thrive. By lending our van (and a few helping hands), we were able to support this fantastic cause in a practical, hands-on way.

Recycling in Action
We're big fans of recycling here at Marshalls. All the trees collected are either donated to local zoos and/or taken to green recycling sites for chipping to be used again.

Thank You to All Involved 🎄❤️
A big shout-out to the Break team (Hayley and Pete in particular) and all the incredible volunteers who spent part of their weekday making Christmas tree recycling a success.
We’re proud to support more sustainable waste solutions and play a part in giving back to the communities we serve.
If you missed this year’s collection, don’t worry. Keep an eye on Break’s website for future events, and think about how your business could lend a hand too next time!
