How Marshalls Works

When you run a business, waste shouldn’t be a headache. But for most pubs, cafés, garages and shops across Norfolk, it’s one of those hidden jobs that takes up far too much time.

Missed collections, overflowing bins, and endless phone calls between brokers and waste collectors - it’s a cycle we’ve all seen.

That’s why Marshalls does things differently. We’ve built a waste management model designed around you - fast, flexible, and completely frustration-free.

Let’s walk you through how it works 👇

♻️ The Problem With Traditional Brokers

In the traditional setup, you have three parties:

  1. The customer (you)

  2. The broker (who sells you the service)

  3. The collector (the waste company who empties the bins)

When everything runs smoothly, no problem. But when a bin gets missed - and let’s be honest, it happens - things grind to a halt.

Why? Because traditional brokers don’t own the bins.

They rely entirely on the waste collector. If that collector can’t attend, you wait.

And by law, another company can't empty a bin they don’t own in the UK. So even if another truck is available around the corner, they legally can’t help.

Result?

You’re left with a full bin, and a broker stuck on hold trying to rearrange a collection that might take days.

🚀 Enter Marshalls Waste: A Better Way

We took that outdated model and re-engineered it.

At Marshalls, we’re a broker with our own bins on the ground. That means when you sign up with us, you’re not just hiring a service - you’re part of a flexible waste network that guarantees your rubbish gets collected, no matter what.

Here’s how it works 👇

🧩 The Marshalls Waste Process (as shown in our infographic)

Step 1: You Get Your Bin

We deliver your branded Marshalls wheelie bin straight to your business. You choose your size - from the compact 120L “Slim Jim” to the 1100L “The Big'Un". The bin remains our property, so you never have to worry about replacement costs or ownership headaches.

Step 2: You Fill It

Use it as normal for general waste, recycling, or food waste.Because it’s a Marshalls bin, you’re legally covered for safe storage and licensed collection.

Step 3: We Arrange the Collection

We liaise directly with our network of trusted waste partners - including nationals and local independents - to handle your regular collections.

Everything is logged, tracked and scheduled to keep your business compliant and your premises clean.

Step 4: Something Goes Wrong? We’ve Got You

Here’s where the magic happens. If one of our partner collectors can’t attend - maybe a breakdown, bad weather, or driver shortage - we don’t make you wait.

Because we own the bins and the waste, we can legally call in any of our approved contractors to service your collection. That means your bin is guaranteed to be emptied within 24 hours.

No middleman delays. No red tape. No excuses.

That’s Big Bin Energy.

Step 5: Waste Is Collected and Processed Responsibly

Once lifted, your waste goes to one of our licensed transfer stations for sorting, recycling and energy recovery. We prioritise sustainable disposal routes to reduce landfill and support Norfolk’s circular economy.

You’ll receive the right Waste Transfer Notes for your records - so you’re covered for compliance.

💡 Why Businesses Love the Marshalls Model

It’s simple. We make waste management work for you.

Old Way

Marshalls Way

Broker sells service → relies on collector

Broker + bin owner = total control

Missed collection = wait a week

Missed collection = fixed within 24 hours

No flexibility, one collector

Multiple collectors on standby

Legal restrictions on bin ownership

We own the bin and the waste

Frustrated business owners

Happy, rubbish-free customers
